3 Ways to Boost Your Energy TODAY
Aug 01, 2019I honestly don’t know how I would face the day ahead of me without first sipping on my mandatory morning coffee (throwing it down my throat!!)
The highs and lows of how ‘energised’ we feel on any given day are impacted by SO many different things – we could all write a laundry list of the million ways in which we feel our energy is drained from us as we try to juggle work, relationships, kids, our social life, remembering to put petrol in the car, finding time to strip the bed and change the sheets…and then we are supposed to find the energy to exercise too?
I understand the struggle.
The good news is – the more you move the more energy you actually generate! Our members at Geelong Boxing Club often comment on how uplifted and energised they feel after a session! Once you understand that – you are motivated to continue to push yourself to exercise consistently.
But if you are lacking energy- it can be a true struggle to get your workout gear on and get out the door (even with the promise of an energy boost and some good vibes!)
Here are some things that you can try right now and implement that could very well give you more energy!
Drink water like its your job!
Take your hydration more seriously! Its something that you can easily control and keep track of. Having a water bottle makes your more accountable and allows you to clearly see how much or how little you have remembered to drink each day. Don’t wait to feel thirsty – being thirsty is a sign that your body is dehydrated! The appropriate amount of water for your body will have you feeling more alert, less sluggish and boost your energy levels!
Eat a Rainbow
When you are on the go, it is easy to fall into the habit of eating the same sorts of meals throughout the week. Convenience can be king when you feel pushed for time and are lacking energy. However – it is important to take a good honest look at the nutritional value of our food. Whilst most people are aware of trying to consume an appropriate amount of carbohydrates, protein and fat, too often micronutrients get overlooked! Increase the amount of varied fruit and vegetables in your weekly diet and you will likely feel the benefits of additional nutrients fuelling your body!
Go to bed
Take yourself to bed earlier whenever possible! Shutting down for the night and allowing yourself to get a full 8 hours sleep (oh how glorious does that sound!?) will do absolute wonders for your body and your energy levels. No matter what you do if you are not getting adequate sleep for your body…you are going to lack energy. Setting an alarm and waking up at the same time every day will also support you in developing positive sleeping habits. Allowing yourself to oversleep or stay up too late will adversely impact your body’s ability to rest overnight.
