Basics Win Fights

Dec 02, 2018

I am often asked “Who is the best fighter? Who do you think will win this fight? and What’s the best way to win a fight ?”

I enjoy this kind of chat and the debates they can often kick off.  I stick to facts and my opinions have been formed as a result of my own experiences in my professional fight career fighting on the biggest shows against some of the biggest names around the world and as a general fight fan myself.

I will be weighing in on Fighters, shows, match ups and results. Feel free to comment with suggestions on what fights, fighters etc you would like me to weigh in on.

Basics win fights

You will see a common thread with all the best fighters from around the world. They have amazing basics – Punch, kick, move your feet, keep your hands up. If you can master this, then you are already half way there.

Here is Nieky “The Natural” Holzken. Renowned Dutch Kickboxer with perfect technique, timing, defence and power. You will notice that “The Natural” always has his hands up and his eyes on his opponent. He is never in a rush and looks for the perfect opportunity to strike. Only then will he throw in some fancy strikes/crowd pleasers.

We consistently drill strong basics in our Muay Thai Kickboxing and Boxing sessions. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, basic moves are your bread and butter. Too much is never enough when it comes to sharpening your basics.
