Burn Baby Burn – Resistance Band Training at GBC

Resistance bands are not to be underestimated! These small band loops looking seemingly innocent compared to some of the bigger pieces of equipment at Geelong Boxing Club – but these little babies pack a punch in our strength and conditioning sessions!

Resistance bands can be used for rehab and physical therapy purposes – but they also make an effective tool for resistance training.

We like to incorporate them into our strength and conditioning sessions because with a little creativity, these bands can be used to increase the effectiveness of lower body exercises specifically to target the gluteal muscles.

Increasing activation of your glute muscles will give you a crazy burn (you’ll love to hate it!) and let you know you are working hard! We particularly like to use them to help our members establish and strengthen their mind to muscle connection. Learning to tune into what muscles you are activation when you complete specific movements will allow you to lift weights more effectively.

Do not be fooled into thinking that these bands are for girls or beginners – we challenge you to get through a workout using these little buggers …they don’t let anyone off lightly!

Best of all there are different levels of resistance based on which band you select for yourself. This means you stay in control of the intensity of your workout! Because they dont overload your muscles – we can use them at anytime, in any session throughout the week. You never know when we will throw them into the mix!
