Gyms Are Open – DONT set a Goal Straight Away!

Oct 26, 2020
Before you rush back into the gym – let’s talk.

We have been gifted with a beautiful opportunity to begin again.

I know you are keen to get into the gym and set goals and generate change. I get the impression you are fired up and ready to go full steam ahead!

Lockdown has been rough hasn’t it?

I want to offer that you can most definitely burst through the doors with excitement and energy – but you don’t have to set big goals and set huge expectations straight away.

In fact, I urge you to consider whether you need to do that at all right now.

Don’t get me wrong, I want you to set and achieve goals and I will be by your side helping you navigate the learning curve that is learning how to break through self doubt, building consistency and creating effective programs to not only reach your goals, but fulfil your deepest, driving desires.

I will even let you borrow my belief in you while you are working to build the self belief you need to double down on your efforts to reach your goals!

But if your training has been a little all over the place all year, or if you are a little nervous about coming back into the gym again because you know your fitness has taken a hit, Id like you ask you to consider whether RIGHT NOW is the best time for you to set a goal.

Here is what I suggest – come in and start training and enjoy it.

Just enjoy it.

With no expectation. No pressure to generate a specific result immediately. Just a willingness to rebuild healthy habits, connect with your community and ENJOY the magic of movement.

Give yourself at least a few weeks to find your rhythm again. To work out a routine that suits you. To let your body adjust to training. To cultivate uplifting, supportive self talk that affirms your efforts without the pressure of producing a result.

To build a healthy relationship with our health and fitness goals we need to spend less time focusing on what we don’t want – we need to step away from the scale and stop over analysing ourselves in the mirror.

Working towards health and fitness goals can actually feel empowering, uplifting and exciting – but only when we are able to anchor into the vision of our success, rather than be making decisions and setting goals from a place of discomfort, indecision and insecurity.

Give yourself permission to begin again without the unnecessary pressure of reaching an unattainable goal before the end of the year.

Just get moving again. Enjoy it.

You will be more compelled to set goals with excitement and clarity when you are back in the swing of things & confident in your ability to follow through.

If you would like to discuss your health and fitness goals – I am always open for that conversation and would LOVE to hear about what you are most excited about as the doors to Geelong Boxing Club open this week.

I cannot wait to see you all,

Your hype girl,

Lena Moxon
