MAKE PROGRESS TODAY BY SCALING DOWN!

Being challenged is highly misunderstood and mostly overrated. When you are opening yourself up to be challenged – are you inviting growth and evolution? Or are you simply acknowledging that you have set yourself up to fail…but are hoping manifest magic anyway?

Being challenged is powerful. Whenever I set goals for myself, I get really crystal clear on the details of what I have to do daily, in order to be a person that is actively moving in the direction of that goal. Usually, I ask for input on my plans by someone who is further along on a similar journey. Someone with a high levels of expertise or experience. Someone that can ask me – is that all you’ve got? Is that all you can do? Is that really where your limits lie?

Those questions are powerful. The way you answer them is critical.

Heres the mistake I made for years. I would confuse my desire to achieve something with my ability to take action on it. Id spend so much time visualising what the said ‘goal’ was that I convinced myself I was ready, willing and able to do whatever it took to get there.

The problem? I spent a great deal of time thinking about the ‘goal’ and why it was important to me, and what it would feel like when I achieved it, and what it would cost me if I didn’t. I should have been investing that time and energy into getting really laser focused on what I would have to do immediately to establish myself as a person that not only desired that specific goal, but was working towards it.

Because we set big goals for ourselves, we can be mislead to believe that we have to take BIG action. What I have come to understand is that we do have to take MASSIVE ACTION..but we start with the smallest things.

We need to commit wholeheartedly to establishing the daily habits that we need to support us in being a person that can achieve those goals.

The GOAL isn’t the important part – becoming a person capable of achieving that goal is. Our lives aren’t put on hold while we work towards the things we have declared important. Every, single day of our lives counts. Who we are today is just as important as who we will be if and when we ever achieve a set goal.

And whats more, anyone that truly understands the power of goal setting knows that you never actually reach a goal. As you grow and evolve and expand you find it within you to set bigger goals to ensure you are not limiting your own evolution.

So – today, begin by taking the pressure off yourself to do everything, and put all your energy behind understanding what the ONE THING you must do in order to become a person capable of achieving your goals would be.

Start with that. Prioritise that. Hold that one thing sacred and protect it with your time, energy and resources.

Sometimes the first step is obvious. Often its far more simple than we realise. When we overcomplicate things we are setting ourselves up to fail. Self reflection will show you where you usually hold yourself back – accountability will allow your to make the decision to evolve past it.

It starts with one small thing. One thing that we decide to embody. Not just for now, forever.

Once we truly know who we are, then we can be open to challenges. We can be pushed and tested without feeling threatened and vulnerable. We wont be lead to act simply because we fear failing. We will step into the day, certain of where we are heading – because we know what action we are taking today.

Your capacity to set and achieve goals in the future is dictated by the habits your are building today. Our lives are a reflection of our habits. Either you let unconscious habits rule your life and hope for the best – or you begin to reclaim your personal power and rebuild your life, one small step at a time.

Start small. It will have a bigger impact than you realise.
