Member Spotlight: Bruce Cohen
Jun 08, 2019Our members are humble and hard working and so we LOVE to take a moment to give them a huge pat of the back and make a fuss over how incredible they truly are. Bruce ‘Bear’ Cohen is a stellar example of the way in which health and fitness can have a positive impact on those closest to you. As a proud husband and father, he sets an amazing example for his family – he is energetic, enthusiastic and positivity personified. Bear is always the first to high 5 anyone and everyone during sessions and we genuinely appreciate the way in which he takes it upon himself to make sure everyone feels welcomed and well supported.
CHEERS TO YOU BEAR – keep on keeping on because you are an inspiration to many !
BEAR SHARES HIS EXPERIENCE AT GEELONG BOXING CLUB:
I live in the northern suburbs of Geelong and wanted somewhere local that I can literally just ‘train’ -a bit like you can at a football/netball/soccer club where everyone works hard and has a bit of fun at the same time and you have room to move, enough variety to keep it interesting, and camaraderie with the other members with similar goals. After my first session I knew Geelong Boxing Club was exactly what I was looking for!
My favourite sessions at the moment are Box and Burn – its great combination of boxing training and general workout and I am also really enjoying Boxing Tech + Sparring – learning and practising new techniques with Steve, with the added incentive to concentrate and get it right!
Im currently part of Geelong Boxing Club Run Crew and we are training together to run the Melbourne Half Marathon in October – I like having a program to follow to keep me active and help me achieve a goal, and having other members support too.
While Geelong Boxing Club is a gym, it doesn’t have some of the limitations other gyms usually have – its not repetitive and each session feels different, so you are being consistently challenged.
