Self Respect is a Super Power

Sep 11, 2019

I see the dirty mirror. The toys all over the floor. My hair needs a wash. But I’ll post this pic anyway – because in this moment I’m feeling so damn proud.

Why ? I’ve realised I am well and truly stronger than my own bullshit.

My training has nothing to do with body composition. I don’t actually care to find out how much I could really lift.

I have no idea how much I weigh and my body fat percentage is irrelevant.

I am so much more than what I look like.

But my reflection is indicative of the deep rooted commitment I have to training.

What’s it all for? My training allows me to connect with my resilience, my grit and the fearless parts of me.

The parts that say YES when my monkey mind says no.

I’ve needed that strength in many moments.

When I signed divorce papers. When I packed a moving truck and moved states. When I lay on a table ready to be cut open and have a baby pulled out of me. When I sold a business I had created from my heart.

All these moments were made a million times easier because I was able to tell myself ‘you’ve got this’.

I believed in myself because I have developed trust and respect for myself every day in the sessions I put myself through.

Training doesn’t have to be about becoming a better version of yourself – it can simply be a catalyst to explore exactly who you are and the amazingness you are already capable of.
