What It Means to Be Truly Inclusive at Geelong Boxing Club
Sep 26, 2024At Geelong Boxing Club, inclusivity is more than just words—it's our commitment to the long-term, sustainable well-being of every person who walks through our doors. We believe in creating an environment where everyone feels truly welcome, but also genuinely supported in ways that go deeper than just a friendly smile.
We take a strong stand against ableism and ensure that all our sessions are adaptable, meeting the unique needs of participants regardless of physical abilities. Whether you need modifications or alternative exercises, we are here to make sure you’re included and challenged in a way that works for you. No one should feel excluded because their body moves or functions differently.
We’re also fiercely committed to rejecting anything that perpetuates body dysmorphia or disordered eating. You won’t find a culture of shame or unrealistic body standards here. Instead, we focus on strength, resilience, and the mental health benefits that come from moving your body in a way that feels good. We celebrate the diversity of all bodies and encourage our members to embrace their own health journeys without comparison or self-criticism.
Our approach is rooted in integrity, meaning we prioritise long-term well-being over short-term results or quick fixes. We’re dedicated to fostering genuine confidence and self-worth, and that includes actively monitoring the energy and dynamics of our group sessions. This ensures that every participant feels safe, connected, and uplifted—whether they’re a seasoned boxer or stepping into the gym for the first time.
At Geelong Boxing Club, our goal is to build a community where inclusivity is woven into everything we do, from the way we coach, to the atmosphere we create, to the lasting impact we aim to have on our members' lives. Because when we say we’re inclusive, we mean it—and we stand by it.
