At Geelong Boxing Club, we believe in growth, respect, and empowerment. Every young person who steps into our space is a valued member of our community. To ensure this space remains safe, supportive, and transformative, weโ€™ve created a set of Rights & Responsibilities that reflect our values.

Geelong Boxing Club: Process for When Rights & Responsibilities Arenโ€™t Met

At Geelong Boxing Club, we believe in growth, accountability, and learning. If a young person is not meeting the Rights & Responsibilities, we follow a simple, supportive process to guide them back on track.

1. Friendly Reminder

๐Ÿ”น If actions donโ€™t align with our values, a coach one on one chat to remind them of the clubโ€™s expectations in a calm and supportive way.
๐Ÿ”น This is a chance to check in, clarify any misunderstandings, and encourage self reflection.

2. Reset & Reflect

๐Ÿ”น If the behavior continues, the young person or teen will be asked to take a short break from the activity to reflect.
๐Ÿ”น A coach will guide them through a quick reset - helping them recognise the impact of their actions and how they can move forward positively to take part in the group session.

3. Restorative Conversation

๐Ÿ”น If the issue persists, a sit-down conversation will be arranged with the teen, a coach, and a parent/guardian.

๐Ÿ”น Together, we will explore:
โœ… What happening?
โœ… How does it affect others?
โœ… What can be done to repair and improve the situation?

4. Next Steps & Support Plan

๐Ÿ”น If further action is needed, we will create a Support Plan tailored to the teenโ€™s needs, which may include:

๐Ÿ”ธ A temporary break from sessions with a plan to return
๐Ÿ”ธ A conversation about whether boxing is the right fit at this time

๐Ÿ”น Our goal is always growth, not punishment, we work together to rebuild trust and help every young person succeed.
